Community Connection
Encouraging young people to grow in self-awareness by recognising the contribution they make to their community.
Program Overview
Community Connection helps young people grow in self-awareness by recognising the contribution they make to their communities.
Recognising contribution beyond the club and beyond the season.
Clubs and community groups introduce a simple structure that encourages young people to reflect on what they have done, the impact they have had on others, and what they have learned about themselves.
The award itself is simply the vehicle.
The deeper purpose is helping young people notice their influence, strengthen their sense of identity, and develop a genuine connection with the communities they are part of.
Why This Program Exists
The Community Connection program exists because contribution shapes identity.
When young people pause to reflect on how they have shown up for others, they begin to see the influence they have beyond performance or results.
In many environments recognition is tied to achievement.
CC shifts the focus toward contribution, encouraging reflection rather than comparison, belonging rather than pressure.
By shining a light on service and positive influence, clubs help young people build confidence, empathy, and a clearer sense of who they are becoming.
How It Works
The Community Connection program is intentionally simple and club-owned.
Clubs adopt a ready-made framework that fits naturally within their existing culture and structures.
Young people reflect on their contribution over a set period of time considering what they did, how it affected others, and what they learned about themselves.
A small leadership group within the club selects a recipient using the CC criteria.
The award is then presented at a time that suits the club’s rhythm, reinforcing a culture that values contribution, reflection, and community connection.
The Impact
It creates a deeper awareness of others within the club, beyond the sport helping people connect on a more human level.
Greater Self-Awareness
Young people gain a clearer understanding of the influence they have on others and the kind of person they are becoming.
Stronger Community Culture
Clubs strengthen a culture that values contribution, reflection, and belonging rather than comparison or performance.
Positive Youth Development
Participants build confidence, empathy, and identity through meaningful contribution and thoughtful reflection.
If your club is looking to strengthen community culture and encourage meaningful contribution, the Community Connection program offers a simple and adaptable framework.
We’d love to explore how it could fit naturally within your existing environment.
